Discriminated against

I will be calling in about this. On November 22 between 6:50 pm and 7:25pm I was discriminated against by your store employee.

I believe it was even a manager. I was told that I'd is required to look at guns or hold them. Right after she let a gentleman with his kid come in and didn't show id or anything. So then I asked to look at a gun and I was told we have to see if.

When clearly the gentleman before me didn't have to show his. I sensed I was being looked up and down and discriminated against because I was black. You guys must have some stigmas and be racist. Because that was uncalled for and totally unprofessional.

To clearly not ask the man before me because all he said was I want to look at it I have one similar, and I said can I see one as well and she gave me a spill we need id.

While I waited for my wife to get off of work UNACCEPTABLE! YOU WILL BE HEARING FROM US SOON.

Thatโ€™s because the OP is screaming discrimination. Back before Christmas I needed cold medicine and cigarettes.

I stopped at Rite Aid, my pharmacy of 11 years. My pharmacist just asked me my birthdate. The front cashier same thing for my cigarettes. When I go to the beach each summer, ID every time for cigarettes.

Is their something nefarious going on? No.

One place Iโ€™m known to every worker after 11 years, the other place Iโ€™m a stranger. What a lack of self-respect for someoneโ€™s mind to go there immediately.

OP needs to go back to 1960 Mobile , Alabama and travel around town by bus, go into a diner and try to find an โ€œappropriate โ€œ water fountain or restroom. I bet when he gets back to 2024 his definition of racism wonโ€™t be used so loosely.

I was in two of your stores tonight and boy was it a night and day experience! At 4pm I bought a bat.

At 5pm I came into exchange or return it because it was not the correct kind. The manager said as long as it still had the plastic on it and no dings, I was able to return it, it was 100% the same way as I bought it, I had it for an hour.

The manager at the Burbank store was so knowledgeable and welcoming she help me and my son completely!

The manager at the Studio city one was so rude and embarrassing. He called me Boo in a demining way, told me that if I wanted his job I could have it. Basically, told me I knew everything, and he doesn't need to tell me and asked me if I wanted his job.

Rolled his eye. His 4 employees were all in shock and completely embarrassed. I have been in guest services all my life and never ever do I think this is aloud. Another lady came to the register and said as long as it was intact, and she let me return it.

I will never go back to that big 5 again and I will make sure I tell everyone I know not too. Not only did embarrass me but his employees didn't even want to look up.

If he treated his customers like that, I could only imagine how he treats his employees! I never complain but this was unacceptable.

Denial of sales for 3 items on presidents weekend salewhen I brought pictures and the add with me. Then at 7:55 he announced the stores closing in 3 minutes However the website says its still open as I write this at 8:28. The attitude was/is the worst part of the trip to the store, trying to give Big5 money and being shuffled out early without anything I came in for ALL items are in my daily emails Big5 sends to my mailbox everyday. Store manager turned his name tag upside down and refused to give his name 6061 El Cajon Blvd store Saturday 7:40 pm 02-19-2022. I expect a call back at 760889****.

ATTEMPT #2 9/18 Santa Rosa Ca. Cleaveland Ave store between noon and 1 sometime. I have and will if able enclose a photo CLEARLY showing 3 different sets of Stiga ping pong paddles at $23.99 i chose one and it rang up 39.99 i then showed her and was told no the prices are wrong we are rearranging. I tryed telling her that was not what this display is showing and was told complain if i want to didnt matter. Now by total hapenstance i am a google maps reviewer since july 5th when i up and relocated here, i am a new Ca. Resident (less then 90 days) from Ne. Today, and my big pitch is i am seeing everything for the first time in my reviews, im from the corn state There are no big 5. Stores there that ive ever seen. Today was my VERY FIRST time EVER being in a Big5. And i am not going to review it for a couple days, not a fair review if im angry, and one person ( while actually 3 employees were there while i complained, ) who was so ignorant as to the laws in regards to having an item clearly posted at a price , as well as im sure some do, nor how to deal with customer concerns. If you send me a capable email address i will send the picture. But please look into my complaint. Because i want the set, and i want to be at least willing to try the other store because i dispise *** because of something 8 years ago in omaha. not been been back since, thats why i went to big 5 to start with and *** is actually closer.

Non-existent Customer Service

About 30 min ago, (around 11 am, Sunday, 09/12) I was in your store on Iron Springs Rd in Prescott. I believe the address is 1365 Iron Springs Rd.

There were three associates up front at the registers talking.

No one greeted me. There were no customers in the store.

I walked to the back where the pellet guns and regular firearms are and no one was there. I could hear people in the back talking but no one came out to see if I needed help. You do have a surveillance camera above the counter.

Regardless, no one from the front of the store came over to see if I needed help.

After 5 minutes, looking at things for sale in the cases where the firearms and knives are, I left. On my way out, the same group of associates continued their conversation. No one thanked me for stopping by or asked if I needed help with anything.

It's clear that the associates in that store don't give a damn about providing customer service in any way, shape or form.

I have no reason to ever return.

There are too many competitive, viable options in town, like Sportsman's Warehouse and Cal Ranch, staffed with associates who understand the true meaning of providing excellent customer service. I'm surprised your store in Prescott is still open.

Unacceptable customer service (RAMONA, CA)

I have been shopping at this location since it has opened, as I am a resident of Ramona. I went in last week, and some ammo was available of which I requested to purchase.

The manager or person authorized to sell ammo was not onsite. So, the ammo was placed on the shelf to be held for me with my name and phone number. I was informed that I would receive a phone call if the ammo sits there for too long. So I returned the next day to purchase the ammo that was being held for me, and once again, I was told that the person authorized to sell the ammo was not there.

I could clearly see the ammo on the shelf still with my contact info on it. Already disappointed I returned today for a third time, as I had not received any phone calls from Big 5. I went to the fire arm section, and could see the ammo was gone. The lady behind the counter asked how she could help, when I told her I was there to pick up my ammo she explained that she is the one authorized to sell ammo, and that mine was put back because I did not return to get it.

I said no, that this is my third time back to get the ammo, and that the first two times no one was available to sell it. She proceeded to try to tell me its my fault for not returning on time. I told her she is incorrect that I came right back, and could see the ammo still being held for me, and that I never received any phone call to inform me otherwise. She would not listen to me, and just continued to blame me, and tell me I didn't return.

She also snidely remarked that if she could just stay there to sell ammo all the time, then she would!

Now, this is completely unacceptable. I held up m end of the deal, and Big 5 did not. Then I get accused of it being my fault.

When I told her I was going to email corporate she acted as if she could care less.

Over the last 10 years (not to mention my whole life at other locations) I have spent a significant amount of money in that store purchasing ammo, of which there has never been an issue before her, and also many of their items including firearms. I was actually planning on purchasing the Vortex Viper 10x42 binoculars that have been sitting in the glass for some time now, but now I am definitely not going to purchasing those or anything from this store, or possibly any Big 5 depending on the out come of this email.

Sorry for the bummer email, but corporate should definitely know about this.

Well, I'm trying to get in touch with someone in corporate headquarters. I can not believe what happened today when I walked into the Big 5 in El Centro Ca.

I was on my way to Costco, saw Big 5, walked in, and saw a box of 20 rds of 9mm, I've been looking for and enrolled in California's
AFS program. I'm a federal LEO/Retired. Now, I presented my valid California DL, my Veterans card, and my "Retired Federal Credentials". I'm a veteran and worked narcotics for 28 years on the Mexican border you can figure out what agency.

I was told by the store Mgnt. "NO" not selling you a box. Well, I advised him that he was misinterpreting the California law. Well, he didn't care very caviler and just didn't care.

I even showed him the California law. He didn't care. I will reach out to the NRA and the BBB. Now, by BIG 5 that's what you need I'm supposed to carry around a U.S.

passport (Valid) and my "Birth Certificate" anyone carries around your birth certificate.? I also pointed out under California law as of October 1st, 2020, but an "Illegal" alien with a fake resident ALIEN CARD CAN BUY AMMO, never again Big 5

I live about 20 miles from Woodland, CA's Big-5 store. My wife has wanted to get a shotgun and a handgun for protection in these uncertain times. We have gone to Big-5 in Woodland, as there aren't many places to go for firearms there, at least 4 times. Three times the one and only person in the store that can deal with firearms was not present. We finally pinned them down to a time, and we showed up right at noon when she got there. First of all, it seems that your employees are brain dead zombies, barely alive enough to point to the arms section. The way they speak it seems they are trying to convince you to NOT buy any weapons or ammo, because it would bother them too much to actually work. Then my wife wanted to take the safety test, and even though the gun specialist just got there, she said she didn't have time today to test my wife, that she would have to make an appointment. This store was first come first serve, and we were up at bat. It made me feel like a bum trying to get into Saks 5th avenue, not a Big-5 in Woodland! This was just the last straw, as we already had a very bad taste in our mouths about this store. We will never set foot in that Big-5 again!!!!Go

Very angry

i recently purchased 2 shotguns. Only 2 people in store can help and in my estimation neither is very knowledgeable nor very pleasant. within a couple days i realized that 1 was missing 2 chokes that the other had. the manager insisted they were there and offered no help. A couple weeks later I discovered you cannot load the gun. The gun has never been shot. I took it back to big 5 and immediately was told no returns on guns even with all the documents, sales slip and all the tags that were on it when I bought it. And again I was offered no help. Folks this was the Vacaville store.

Terrible customer service

I went to the store 3 times to try an get a canopy and a tent. I was asked to sign up for the proper discount through the email. It never happened even after a week. These are large items and I can not afford them without the discount.

The girl with the Black Hair by the register on the W Lake Mead store was a Damn Mask Natzi as soon as you walked in the door she was that way with everyone No hi how you doing your mask needs to be worn this way it has to be above your nose and she is walking around the store telling people how they should wear there mask EXTREMELY rude I will NEVER go back in that store again
